Bio

Joel Weber Knopf is a NYC-based musician, writer, and educator whose original shows The Last Ibex, Unadmissions: A Law School Musical and God and Xylophones have been performed in a 2020 workshop at Yeoriya Studios in NYC, at the 2018 Musical Café Festivals of Short Musicals in Oakland, California and at Inferno Theater’s 2017 Diaspora Festival in Berkeley.

Joel currently teaches guitar with New York City Guitar School, runs early childhood music classes with Jam with Jamie, and has worked as a teaching artist with Wingspan Arts and City Center Theater Company.

Before coming to New York, Joel served as music director for Agile Rascal Bicycle Touring Theater, composing music for a new environmentally themed show created as Artists-in-Residence in the Everglades. Joel has appeared in productions with the Dramatists’ Guild, the SF Footlights, and has performed in a new bi-lingual children’ opera Lucinda y las Flores de la Nochebuena with the San Francisco Opera Guild. He acted in the fifteen-minute musicals The Loving Tree, Love the Struggle, and Pickpocket at the 2017 Musical Café. Joel’s EP of children’s songs is available at www.meltsinyourmind.com.

The author of many essays, songs and short stories, Joel’s work has been published in The Awakenings Review and Frankenstein’s Review. Joel recently completed his first children’s novel.
